Festive Paper Hearts & Baubles!

Monday 17th November

Unfortunately Hurley WI member, Crazy Mary, was unable to attend due to family illness but Anna Roebuck stepped in at short notice to show us how to make a festive bauble & paper heart from recycled Christmas cards. We were shown how to cut the strips and join them all together and embellish them with beads. The hall was extremely quiet due to the intense concentration! Members kept their creation to take home. Afterwards we had two games of Bingo!

Coleshill Group Meeting

On Thursday 16th October, 5 of our members attended the Coleshill Group Meeting at Curdworth Village Hall. The speaker was Kevin Barfield who talked to us about "The Life and times of George Formby". It was a great talk with original recordings of his interviews and songs, which got every-ones feet tapping and a sing-a-long at the end!
We had some lovely refreshments and there were some delicious cakes on sale by Country Markets. Wishaw WI were the winners of the Pumpkin Pie competition. We look forward to the next Group Meeting - A Christmas Carol Service at Wishaw Church, December 11th 7.30-9pm.

Denman College

On Monday 22nd September Karen, Shirley & Maureen attended a free day at Denman College in Marcham, Oxfordshire. The day was "A Modern Look at Home Improvements" sponsored by Anglian. It was the first time any of us had visited Denman and we were not disappointed. On arrival we had Tea & Coffee with pastries in the main house. We then went for our first talk by Anglian with special guest and Anglian ambassador, actress Sally Geeson (Bless This House). We had a delicious buffet lunch outside in the beautiful gardens. Our afternoon talk was by David Domoney the TV gardener, he was very entertaining and even had some members
taking part in a potting challenge! We finished the day with afternoon tea on the lawn! A very enjoyable day and would definitely recommend a visit.  More pictures in photos section.
